It's a Christmas brunch loaded with friends food and frivolity.  Friends well we'll meet John Lingard a friend in Lincoln England who will continue our education on English Christmas traditions.  Then for the meat of the brunch a surprise.  It's Ilyria in the 1920s and you're invited to quite the Christmas party.  The sound is awesome the music even better.  To round out the show Matt Cox gives you a brunch preview of 2010.  Finally thanks for making bBrunch the show it is.  And a special Christmas message from Twitch the Cat ... and a few friends too.  P.s.  If you're wondering what the play is Scott and Tracie from Disney Indiana will be by to help us.

This week is kind of different at the brunch studios.  First we listen to a big band program from 1936 as Henry Hall entertains with Christmas and other dance tunes.  Then we return to our naval draft and see what happens when a sea lord comes to inspect them.  Then the meat of the brunch.  It's Christmas in the UK and we'll begin our own celebrations by seeing what goes on at the UK pavillion.  Joining Matt for this lively festive discussion will be Scott and Tracie Morris aka the first family of Disney Indiana http://www.disneyindiana.com and Scott Viers aka the Mortis http://www.themortis.com  and don't forget next week for the big 100 we'll be learning about Christmas in the UK from England.

Before we hear "A Christmas Carrol," we'll listen to our weekly dose of Navy Lark.  Troutbridge has been commissioned to take guests to the South Pole.  Question is does Mr. Philipps know where south is?  The next two episodes contain two very different Christmas themed discussions.  Enjoy.

I don't mind saying that when we end Churchill's Bodyguard this week I feel a bit emotional.  A thirteen week series ... well it's a quarter of a year.  The Navy Lark continues though with the episode "Johnson Finds Treasure," and then we listen to Agatha Christies Adventure of The Christmas Pudding.  If you've never listened to John Moffett as Hercule then you're in for a treat.  David Bales should just be finishing "The Mysterious Affair at sStyle."  Enjoy and early Christmas and holiday greetings.

In Churchill's Bodyguard the war is almost over.  As the Navy Lark episode for this week is missing from the collection we'll start our Christmas with an episode of Dial M For Pizza and finish that series.  Then we'll finish "The Quiet American."  Stay tuned for a special announcement from Matt about wher you can find otr starting next week.

This is a repost of the podcast originally daated November 9 2009.  Special thanks to Julie Anne in Australia who found this error catching up with old episodes and John in England for actually having the episode for us to repost.  We start with the ninth episode of Churchill's Bodyguard entitled Winston's Double.  Then we play some old victrola records before delving in to the Avengers Quick Quick Slow Deaath episode 3 then we play the fourth episode from series 2 of the Navy Lark then conclude with the final episode of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow.  Pleaase enjoy and remember this is a repost from 2009 so this is pre PDM.

Just what is the t word that goes with Mrs. Peal's drink? And are we getting closer to who killed Arthur Peever? Was it really Arthur Peever who was killed? And what does tatooing a sausage have to do with all this? It's based on a British tv show and recorded in South Africa plus a few recorded announcements. Enjoy.

This episode gets direct credit from Fred Bertelsen. As all these shows we'll be hearing for the next few weeks were proams he originally wanted to play. First we'll learn about Walter Thompson Winston Churchill's bodyguard. Although a tv program it's well narrated and I think you'll enjoy learning about this fascinating man. Then we'll revissit The Castle. Sir William throws a party to try to woo Anne and a certain swearing chef is involved. Then we begin "The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes," with "Scandal in Bohemia." This week on Brunch we begin with the play "The Airman who Would Not Die." It's an adaptation from the book by John Fuller and tells the story of the eight men who died when Britain's airship candidate the R1 crashed in 1930. It delves in to mediums and seyances and I think you will enjoy it. AFter that we laugh as we learn about song parodies. Don't forget next week we begin looking at Sherlock HOlmes again and we look at Winston Churchill's bodyguard. Enjoy.

Let me begin by telling you we're begining with a Bible mystery again this time talking about Joshua and the Battle of Jeriko. We then look at "The Saint Closes the Case." It's England in the 1930's. Noone trusts anyone be it English or Nazi and the Saint is right in the middle. Enjoy. Those of you looking for the summer marathon stay tuned as it'll be posted soon. Questions or comments? I want to begin this overview by thanking David O'neil from Extinct Attractions. Just recently he played an intervew of himself done by another podcaster. Well if Dave can do it ... so can I. And I really wanted to share this one with you guys without starting another podcast. So here it is. Lst Saturday I participated in an interview roundtable with noted baseball historian and local radio talk show host Ira Fistel. We talked about a lot of stuff including the 1919 Black Sox Scandal how baseball games were originally thrown the difference between a 19th century and current game and the state of baseball broadcasting. The pannel includes myself, noted otr personality Larry Gassman, Mike Stern and our exultant chair Bob Acosta. It's an hour and a half. And I really hope you come away learning something. If you're a baseball fan you're gonna love it. Btw what does this have to do with Brunch or BBC? Nothing!! But if Gary Chambers can take four month breaks and David Bales can just disappear ... lol ... well I can digress sometimes. Enjoy.

This has not been the easiest week for me. So I was glad the oprotunity showed itself and I was able to play this "surprise" for Tracey Morris of Disney Indiana. But I think you'll all enjoy it. It's "The Adventures of Superman," and it's the end of our "State Of The States," for this year. This fine piece directed by Dirk Maggs and written by him shows really great stereo sound and I think you will truly enjoy it. Next week catch m live at the Radio Out Of The Past Summer Marathon. Just go to http://www.radiooutofthepast.org beginning on Saturday August 15 at 9 am Pacific. You'll have to download some software but if you have a microphone you can participate. Looking forward to meeting you live for two days of old time radio prizes yes you read that right ... prizes ... and fn. My actual hosting begins at Noon Pacific on Sunday August 16. We have a full episode this week plus a rant at the end. You could say that this is an episode full of wrapping up. See we start off by finishing "The Gunfighters." After that we have a brief interview with Peter Purves who played Steven in the original series. We move on to wrap up "The Dust Bowl Baladeers," chronicling the life of Woody Guthrie from WWII through his early death in 1967 at the age of 55. We then conclude with the final episode of the Arthur Conan Doyle novel "The Sign Of The Four," entitled "The Great Agra Treasure." And we finish all these wrapups by discussing last weekend's Friends Of The Magic. If you heard Matt Cox laugh this week you get to hear him rant. Send us an email at brunch@london.comcom or call us at 206 338 5879 and tell us what you prefer. There's also a question for you the listener this week as well. I record one episode a week and I can truly say this was the most fun as we debut our first and hopefully not last pannel. For starters we'll listen to "The Gunfighters," and see what's happening with the Doctor Steven and Dodo as they make their ways through Tombstone. From there we're continuing our look at the States through the music of Woody Guthrie. It's a look at Woody's early life and is hosted by Billy Bragg. Finally we have .... the pannel. Yes a full fledged discussion with some laughter songs and the Mortis too. We actually have Liana Kilgore from Extinct Attractions or http://www.classicthemeparks.com Scott and Tracy from Disney Indiana at http://www.disneyindiana.com and last but not least our movie guru the Mortis at http://www.themortis.com or Mortis Studios East. other then the fact that my microphone was away from my face for oh about five minutes not bad for a first pannel and I look forward to more. We also begin "The Gunfighters," our first Doctor Who adventure and listen to the music of Woody Guthrie through our host Billy Bragg. Enjoy this week's episode.

And if Disney's is the only one you're familiar with you're in for a treat with the rreal thing. Then we conclude the first season of The Navy Lark and end with a walk down L.A.'s mean streets and yes friends this was recorded in England with Philip Marlowe and the Raymond cChandler classic "The High Window." Also check out the blooper at the end and just what does Doctor Who have to do with our state of the states festivities? Our pannel is coming soon so stay tuned.

In this episode we continue our countdown to the Friends of The Magic Meet at Disneyland later in July. But we also look back. Oh yes there's Peter Pan and "The Navy Lark," but our second hour is dedicated to the late Michel Jackson. This isn't a King Of Pop weekend filled with phone calls and songs heard over and over again but rather a Radio 2 docmentary called "Michael Jackson's Masterpiece." It discusses Thriller and what Thriller meant and symbolized. If this is your first time listening because you've just discovered us then I hope you come back when we return to normal. This is Brunch 71. First off lots of voice mail and email this week and all pro on The Avengers. That makes me feel good. Anyhow this week we have a history of sorts. It's Called "For One Night Illegally," and it traces the evolution of bootlegged recording. Anyone who remembers Springstein's famous line "Bootleggers roll your tapes." will love this show. Dixon ends its first run with us this week with George dealing with a gun toting soldier without Andy. And our boys in the Navy take a psychology test. Nothng unusal there but these are our boys. Next week we begin "When Disney Had Brunch," a four part look at original work that Disney adapted. Enjoy and don't forget to email brunch@london.com with thoughts or suggestions and also call 206-338-5879 and being in California I had to get this in. Lakers in 6

It's hard to believe that a little show started among a few friends with a passion for BBC radio has blossomed in to 70 episodes. And this week Brunch brings you music, commedy and police drama. I'd like to say that if you like Pink Floyd you'll love this show ... if you're a casual observer of the band you'll like this show and if you love the band and its psychedelic sound this will go in to your ipod along with your Dark Side of the Moon album. But we can't flood you with Floyd without taking a cruise on the HMS Troutbridge or learn from Officer Dixon about rowdy Spurs fans so ... say when ... and get ready to enjoy Brunch With The Brits.

First off Dave Bales joins us twice this week. Once to say thanks to MOrtis but be sure and listen to the end of the program for a very misty Dave Bales. I picture the Oregon Coast as misty. As far as programs well trouble arrises off Portsmouth Harbour when our Navy boys discover they haven't spent a dime of the unit comfort fund. Meanwhile our hitchhikers return and everyone seems involved including Ford and Arthur. We then play Whose Line with Clive Anderson and we begin "The Bob Hope Trail." First stop? Ellis Island. One fan Dave has emailed me a lot first off to say that he's enjoyed all shows from number 1 to now. So why not celebrate his birthday? We start with "The Mysterious Affair At Styles," which we finish this week. Were you surprised at the murderer? Then we listen to "The Navy Lark," and finally finish "The Pickwick papers." We end with a teaser for next week's show which even though it's for Dave we hope the rest of you will enjoy as well. Enjoy.

Then we revissit that little island off the coast of Portsmouth where the seamen have hatched up a skeme to get duty free smokes. Unfortunately it's during an inspection. Then we turn to Pickwick. Since he won't pay he's off to debtor's prison.
