As we close out 2014, I thought it'd be kind of fun to introduce or re introduce you to my love of early science fiction. So we look at Verne's Journey To The Center of the Earth. It's a wonderful story and well dramatized from december 9 of 1995. Enjoy |

However don't let the title fool you as we delve deep in to archives to bring you an exciting version of "A Christmas Carol," with Ralph Richardson as narrator and Scrooge. It's basically Sir Ralph and a few cast members given some lines and when you listen to mid sixties BBC drama you note the differences. Gone is the enhanced sound so they used the literature. Enjoy. We'll also start the show by remembering the amazing Christmas of the Trenches of 1914 and we conclude with another ghost story the Shepherd. If you've been a listener to this podcast you know how much we look forward to our yearly chat with audio drama actor radio presenter and now recently retired John Lingard from Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom. John has read us books presented original programs on the history of British broadcasting and come up with lots of filler and intro matterial for this humble podcast. So it's a pleasure at this time of holidaay reflection to welcome him back. This time skype worked. So well in fact we're considering more pannel discussions. We hope you enjoy our conversation as we tackle the privatization of trains Black Friday, is pub life changing? I begin this description by writing that when this show first started these were some of the first plays in my collection. So I'm excited to present series 3 of Caesar. Go back to ep 25 for series 1 if you'd like. Anyhow this play discusses Victoria and Postumus of Gaul and the third century crissis Galinus had in defending and keeping control of Rome. British actors make great Romans. Enjoy. |

Our feaatured play is The Queen's Reggtreat. When a gilted school teacher goes to Cornwall to recover in a friends' cottage she reaalizes there really is more to life. Enjoy. |

As scotland prepares to vote tommorow the host begins this week with a heart felt message. We then hear Dad's Army and listen to The Cricket Match from July 1976 learn about the War of 1812 in Sceptred Isle, that is we start to learn about it however the American matter is skipped until next week. After The King Must Die we here at the studio have decided to spend a few weeks dvoted to those plays we never seem to play enough of. Those one acts the BBC is so famous for. So after we've seen how the vicar does as a home guardsman in The Recruit and hear about the Ministry of talents in sceptred isle we'll travel in our minds to Sussex georgeous Sussex and listen to The Secret Summer of Daniel Lions. Tom a young Methodist is drawn to movies when a movie set comes to his vvillage at the turn of the twentieth century. It's a gret cast and we think you'll enjoy it. Speaking of plays ... what are some of your favorites? Would you like to co host a play? It must be at most an hour and a half at least fifteen to thirty minutes. Yes the bBC did have fifteen minuters. We'll then have two episodes of Dad's Army, in The Big Gun a naval gun is donated to the Home Guard and in teh Big Parade the home guard unit tries to find a mascot to march in the big parade. This week, Daavid Bales our long time friend and listener is celebrating his birthdaay and we've started recording on the new computer. The mike needs to be worked on and we're aware of this however we do hope that Mr. Bales aproves of his birthday gift.
